Bunker Adjustment Factor - Friday 12th October 2018

We have been advised by our shipping lines that due to the continuous rising cost of fuel that a Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) has had to be introduced.

Whilst the shipping lines have held off as long as possible prior to increasing charges, this is no longer sustainable and a BAF will be applied to offset these increases.

For standard vehicles this equates to an increase of between NZ$40.00 and NZ$55.00 per vehicle, and oversize or non-standard units will incur a levy of NZ$2.00 per cubic metre.

With regret Moana Blue will need to pass these additional charges on at cost and will be applicable from:

MV Frontier Ace V155A loading Japan last week of October 2018

We trust that you will understand the need for this increase and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions.

Airbag Recalls - Extended Requirements - Monday 17th September 2018

NZ Transport Agency (NZTA) has stated that from 1 November any vehicle border inspected with an outstanding airbag recall is to be flagged as “Damaged”.

If the vehicle is shipped prior to the recall being completed the recall will need to be undertaken in New Zealand before the vehicle can be certified for registration and an MR2A issued. This process is likely to incur delays and costs as the manufacturers agents are entitled to prioritise registered vehicles and potentially charge you for the work.

Moana Blue highly recommend completing the recall in Japan prior to shipping and will be working with suppliers in Japan to implement this process. As per previous correspondence all checks, and procedures implemented by Automotive Technologies Ltd (ATL), the Border Inspecting Organisation for Moana Blue are to be considered as additional to checks and actions taken prior to shipping being ordered and vehicles delivered to us.

We strongly recommend that you talk to your suppliers and ensure that they undertake any required recalls in Japan prior to shipping.  Neither Moana Blue or ATL can be held responsible should a vehicle with an outstanding airbag recall be shipped.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or require further information.

We look forward to providing you with a professional service.
